I just got off the phone with the geek people... my beloved notebook will be there for at least 2-3 more weeks because my motherboard apparently gave up on life and the replacement is backordered. The "usual" time for backordered parts is 2-3 weeks but can take longer. I am saddened by this because I miss my notebook dearly. Now in researching this I have found so far that replacement motherboards don't always work and the computer ends up not working the same anyway. If this is the case, and I am waiting over a month (all together) to get my computer back that is only going to crap out on me again, you have no idea how pissed off I will be.
The good news is if that happens they will replace the computer, but I want the old computer back before I get a replacement one. I have programs on there that I need to transfer to the external hard drive. I was attempting to do this before I sent it out but it wouldn't boot for me at all.
So it looks like I will be using the crappy Dell for awhile. Maybe I should stop calling it that before it takes offense and stops working too.
