Things have been crazy and I haven't really gotten to post much. We have been busy with home improvements, and fix-ups. We finally tore down the old front porch that was in desperate need of replacement and built a new one. I actually got to help and there weren't any temper tantrums! It is looking really good, all that has to be done to it as of now is for me to finish staining it. We picked a cedar colored stain and it looks so good! I was staining it today and of course it started raining, so I couldn't complete it, I was actually quite pissed because the forecast said "No Rain". Of course that is the way things go.
While I was staining the porch Mike was building a new garden. We went to Home Depot quite a few times over the past few days and bought a whole bunch of new flowers and bushes. So far the front of the house is looking really great.
We have made the most of this leave time and got a lot of things done. We didn't get everything that we wanted accomplished and with leave winding down that may not happen, but the major 2 person projects are out of the way and I can do some of the smaller things myself. I know how to use some of Mike's new toys so I expect to get a lot of pressure washing done over the next deployment. The only downfall to all of this work is getting eaten alive by the sand gnats.
I cleaned both of the cars from top to bottom and we replaces the top on the Amigo! We finally got the Cavalier fixed and I get to get out of the house a lot more now. Which is great! I discovered a Coffee Bluff recreational center (park) really close to the house which I will be taking Damien to.
Mike's birthday passed this weekend, and it was nice. We didn't make it to the parade this year, but we did get to go out with Chasity and Carl that night. They came in for the weekend because St. Patricks Day is Carl's birthday too! We had a few drinks and a cake, all of that good stuff. It was good to see them and all of the kids.
This weekend we are going to my Uncle Pete's to help him and Karen move Pete's stuff into a moving truck. Dad extended this deployment and couldn't help out. Pete is apparently moving up to Dahlonega, he bought property near them.
Damien had his 3rd haircut recently. It was his first high and tight, He looks adorable with it, I really think that he needed to look MORE like Mike. He actually didn't mind the haircut this time and really cooperated with Mike throughout the whole process.
